Week 21 - Alderley - Results

We were lucky last night to beat the rain, thanks everyone for coming along. Hope everyone enjoyed the race 

Well done to Errol for just pipping Alex and Paul G, seems the CP on the bridge was a difficult one to find. It is not always you need to take close note of the contours to find a CP on the QuestGaine courses.

A special mention to Dan who made the inaugural Questcyclegaine entry, and won the category

"Salome, dear, not in the fridge"

It's from an anthology of winning entries to competitions in The New Statesman, edited by Arthur Marshall, and cheered me up somewhat. Not that ENO's Salome would have needed to worry, because there wasn't much evidence of a severed head at all: just a placcy bag that for all we know might have contained a large cauliflower. One's cynical side considers it's probably cheaper than constructing a replica head of Jokanaan. I love good reinterpretations of operas. Like science fiction or magical realism (in which I've been learning a thing or two recently), they need to create consistent worlds, to make sense within those worlds and, if stretching disbelief, make us believe one big thing by getting the small things right. Not new year resolutions

The Apothecary's Rose, from my garden. It should work magic, if I only knew how. I decided not to make any new year resolutions because they're expected  to be  gloriously positive and, as you'll know from yesterday's Mood Ludwig, that's not where I am right now. So I'm not going to do it. Not going to think about practising the piano and then not do it. Not going to decide not to eat chocolate. Not going to promise myself to go running three times a week. Not going to stop procrastinating - you can't teach a middle-aged catwoman new tricks. And I'm not going to not post as many cat pictures.
